1. Figure out what you’re good at.

Before you do anything, you need to identify what skills and strengths you have. This will be the foundation of your side hustle. You’ll also want to consider what interests and hobbies you have, as well as any passions or expertise in a certain area.

To get started, make a list of all the things that come to mind when thinking about what makes up “you” and then sort them into categories like friendliness, humor, reliability and so on. Ask friends (and family) what they think your strengths are — it can be easy for us to ignore our own assets! Then ask colleagues or peers at work who know you well what they think of your abilities.

Once you’ve got this down on paper (or whatever medium works best for you), start seeing how these traits might translate into something concrete by pairing them with potential opportunities: “I’m good at making people laugh”, could become “I want to write standup comedy”; “I’m great at…
