I never would have thought I would be known as a TikToker but I surely underestimated the potential. When I was first approached by a friend of mine that also does YouTube and TikTok, I thought he was joking.

This was around the beginning of quarantine and it seemed that everybody and their dog was hopping on the TikTok trend. At first, I didn’t really take it seriously and I would just put my leftover YouTube content or stream highlights onto the platform.

After the second video went viral, I still didn’t think it was a big deal until I received a message from a rapper that I’m familiar with, and even more so when I watched the video and saw the credit to his Instagram reposting of it. This was when I realized I should probably put more effort into creating content specifically for the platform.

TikTok as a Money-Making Platform

Even though the app has come a long way since its initial release, TikTok isn’t traditionally known as a platform where people easily make money.

However, the opportunity to rake in some cash is still there — it’s just going to require a little more than putting out a selfie of you lip syncing to the latest Billie Eilish song. One way creators can maximize their earnings is by becoming a TikTok influencer.
